Im 19 years old and interested in getting a job in the customer service field. However, I have only ever worked restaurant jobs and I did graduate high school. Im trying to make the best possible resume for this position. I would LOVE some advice!

You can go to a resume samples website such as resumearmor.com. Samples are cheap and they will give you a good reference point.

Make sure to include any volunteer experience. That usually helps a lot, especially if deals with the job you want to apply for (i.e. talking to people, directing people where to go, generally helping people out, etc.). Also, you can include any club officer positions you had in school, as well as any awards and honors.

Other things you want in your resume are a list of your skills, your education (indicate that you did receive a diploma), and about three references. Make sure to detail what you did in your job. Like if you were a waiting tables, write something about providing services to customers, or something like that.

Finally, big thing about the resume is to make sure it goes to the manager and then follow up a few days later with a phone call or something. If you turn it in to some random worker, they might end up misplacing it or throwing it away.

Everything that Apple says is true. In addition, your ideal resume would show your problem-solving skills in some way, and your excellent customer contact skills.

I hope that on your resume and in person you will be self-confident. Instead of saying, “I have only worked restaurant jobs,” it should come out as “At my previous two restaurant jobs, my bosses praised my ability to turn tables, and complimented my low error rate. They knew they could count on me to arrive promptly and take an extra shift if necessary.”

If you can get them to write you references that you can attach to your resume, even better.

Customer service is more like restaurant work than you think. It’s just easier on the feet.
